What each figure covers

A firm filing 300 forms a year pays $407.50 at the cheapest of the services above (TaxBandits) and $200 here: a difference of $207.50, before either side's add-ons.

Tax1099. Federal e-file at list price, which includes corrections. E-delivery (25¢), print and mail ($1.90), TIN matching and W-9 collection (on the $349 Scale plan only) are separately priced and are not counted here. Read September 28, 2026

Track1099 (Avalara). Federal e-file at list price, which includes e-delivery and e-corrections, with the bands rolling across the year rather than restarting with each order. State e-filing ($1.49), TIN matching (45¢), address validation (7¢) and postal mail are extra and are not counted here. Read September 28, 2026

TaxBandits. Federal e-file at list price. Recipient online access (50¢), mailing ($1.85) and TIN matching (35¢) are extra and are not counted here; corrections are free on both sides of this comparison. Read September 28, 2026

efile4Biz. Federal e-file only, at list price, and any form credits bought ahead expire each October 31. Their print-and-mail bundle, state filing ($1 per form per state), TIN matching ($1.00) and W-9 collection ($1.00) are extra and are not counted here. Read September 28, 2026

Where we are ahead

A year of 1,000 forms costs about $1,000 at the three cheapest of these four, and about $2,000 at the fourth, before recipient copies. Here it is $200 a year, 1,000 forms included, then 25¢ a form, with no form credits to prepay and none that expire.

  • Electronic delivery with a consent the IRS would recognize: the Pub 1179 disclosures, proof the recipient can open a PDF, a recorded scope, and a withdrawal that is written down.
  • W-9 collection by link or email, unlimited and free, with a paper record when the contractor sends a scan.
  • Corrections at no charge, for tax year 2026 forms.
  • Practice mode on every account, free and with no card.
Where they are ahead of us

All four have been doing this for years and each does something this platform does not. Form 1099-NEC, Form 1099-MISC, and Form 1099-K are the information returns that leave this platform for the IRS. State copies go through the IRS's Combined Federal/State program when the firm turns it on for a payer and the state takes it, and as upload files the firm sends itself elsewhere. Nothing is transmitted to a state directly.

Tax1099. A far wider form list (1098, 1095, W-2 and 1042-S families), direct state e-filing at 99 cents a form, real-time TIN matching, and print and mail. This platform files 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC and 1099-K, sends state copies through the IRS's Combined Federal/State program or as upload files, checks a TIN's shape but does not match it with the IRS, and does not mail.

Track1099 (Avalara). Direct state e-filing at $1.49 a form, and collection of Forms W-8 and W-4 as well as the W-9. This platform forwards through the IRS's Combined Federal/State program and prepares state upload files, and collects only the W-9.

TaxBandits. Free address validation, direct state filing at 95 cents a form, payroll and W-2 filing alongside the 1099, and TIN matching at 35 cents. This platform does none of those.

efile4Biz. One price that includes printing and mailing every recipient copy for you, which this platform cannot do yet, and direct state filing at $1 a form per state. Every Copy B here is emailed with the recipient's consent or printed by the firm, and state copies go through the IRS's Combined Federal/State program or as upload files.

Included in the price

The work around the 1099s, in the same annual price.

  • W-9 collection from contractors
  • Copy B emailed to recipients who consent, or produced for you to print and mail
  • Corrections, at no charge

Every form we file

The whole list. A form that is not on it is one this product does not file.

No IRS TIN matching. No direct state filing. We are rapidly expanding our service.

What that means

No IRS TIN matching. This product does not match a TIN against the IRS's records. The check it runs before you file is structural: a TIN of nine digits and a plausible name control, which catches the transpositions. IRS TIN Matching is a separate IRS e-Services enrollment.

No direct state filing. We never send anything to a state. Where a state this product covers asks for the 1099s as an upload file, we prepare that file and your firm uploads it under its own state account. Where you turn on the IRS's Combined Federal/State Filing program for a payer, the IRS forwards that payer's records to the participating states.
